Sunday 11 January 2009. Part of ADA's Cabinet.
On January the 11th, 2009, ADA celebrated the opening of its studios on Houtlaan by organising a Tea Party. The studio spaces were turned into a curiosity cabinet, or Kunstkammer, with a collection of works belonging to ADA members and other artists, mixed with decorational items and images. Around eighty people attended the event. Apart from appropriate drinks and food, guests could enjoy a series of performances and talks, which were organised especially for the occasion.
Maja Bekan introduced her project P for Performance by giving a short version of the Sienna X Spray Tanning Party. Esmé Valk talked about historical examples of people coming together in the private setting of the Kunstkammer to enjoy each others company and to talk about art. ADAs ongoing series of film screenings entitled Cinema Sunset was introduced by showing Jonathan Miller’s Alice in Wonderland and an acoustic musical intermezzo was performed by Gerwin Luijendijk and Kathrin Wolkowicz.
